![]() ![]() ![]() While many of Sendak's works have won international recognition, including In the Night Kitchen (1970) and Outside over There (1981), his 1963 picture book Where the Wild Things Are remains his most critically and commercially popular work to date. ![]() Drawing on the great tradition of nineteenth-century book illustration, Sendak has forged a unique visual vocabulary and artistic style, at once rooted in the past yet contemporary in spirit and approach.
